What is Future-Sensing?

Future-Sensing is the strategic discipline of attempting to make sense of that which we either, don’t know we don’t know, or we know that we don’t know. It is the practice of identifying and establishing a system of early, or weak signal detectors and associated “strategic knowledge indicators”, to assist us to make better informed decisions, in relation to increasingly unpredictable and / or uncontrollable events.

The principle point of departure is the key assumption that “the past is an unreliable predictor, of a very uncertain future”.

Future-Sensing is Knowledge Inference and attempts to look at the complexity, impact and consequences of highly improbable scenarios, occurring in uncertain and unpredictable conditions.

Future-Sensing focuses on the identification and development of your Future Knowledge Needs and the nature of the complex adaptive responses, systems and processes that organisations need to develop through their key people, core business processes and technologies, in order to thrive, and not just survive, in an increasingly complex and chaotic world.

Future Sensing

Future-Sensing consists of a series of high level strategic conversations and short, facilitated executive “think-tank” workshop sessions, using the Future-Sensing™ framework, culminating in a high impact and thought provoking, multi media presentation to management and staff
